Your VIN, or Vehicle Identification Number is the number assigned by the manufacturer to uniquly identify your specific vehicle. It includes information about the year, the make, and the model of your vehicle. Each digit in your vehicles VIN number has a specific meaning, including the exact make, model, and year the vehicle was manufactured, as well as other special features that are often relevant to estimating repairs.
There are a number of different places you can find your VIN number, but perhaps the easiest is the Vehicle Certification Label that is located on the driver’s side doorjamb.
You can also find the VIN on the Drivers Side Dashboard, veiwable through your vehicles windshield. Both numbers should be exactly the same.
